Raisi K. drops Squid Games inspired beat tape RKSG

I'm always late, and that makes me somewhat useless when it comes to both big time mainstream media and timely album reviews. This isn't about my inability to stay fresh, this is about RKSG, the latest collection of beats from Raisi K. and based on the music and sounds of hit Netflix show Squid Games.

No, I still haven't watched Squid Games, but I have been bumping these new beats a fair bit since Raisi K. hit me up on Twitter about this. I'm going into this cold. Just like I don't play the video games when I review game soundtracks, so too, do I not watch the shows music is based on as well. What do I do with my time? Oh right, I get mad at YouTube videos. Anyway, let's dig into some dope hip hop beats.

Life is a Series of Games.

This track is an intro, that makes my job a little easier. Get the mood ready for these beats.

Red Light, Green Light.

A simple flute for the beat and some grimy bass drive this track. Easy to nod your head to this one. Deep bass and a recognizable beat. Just before the two minute mark the beat changes up and gets a rattling bass along with a stuttering new beat. Close out the beat strong.

Pink

These titles must mean something in the context of the show. To me they are just the name of Raisi K. Tracks. Digging that rattling warped bass. Some creepy stuff happening on this track like that UFO abduction sounding noise, the haunting and constant vocals and more.

End of the Road

The heartbeat intro turns into a steady deep beat. That heart beat beat doesn't go away, it's the heart of the track as well. The bass is practically underwater it's so deep. Then some highs attempt to even things out, but this track stays dark and deep. A slow, grinding track that carves it's way forward. Sounds like something that would fit right into a Silent Hill or Resident Evil game. This is the music that plays in the menu during the apocalypse.

Steady Hands

This one starts out more upbeat, then gets real weird, like an old timey carnival. That accordion led beat throws me for a loop. That accordion fits very well against that deck scrubbing bass. The whole thing gives off a kind of, living-on-the-docks, pirate, ocean faring vibe to it.

Prize Money

Lot of money sounding sound effects on this cut. Like a bunch of digital wallets getting rung up ceaselessly. This is a video game sounding beat. I'm supposed to be reviewing game music, but at least I'm reviewing a soundtrack to something, well a remix of sounds from the series of something. I review what I want, quiet down.

End of the Road 2

It's the sequel, but starts out very differently. We hear a series of tones that don't seem to correspond to any rhythm, then the track kicks off proper with some low sounds that keep things dark and serious. The beat is sometimes interrupted by some jarring sound effects.

Do you have what it Takes?

This one has that final boss vibe to start. Then we get some words from the show. Probably something important. Giving up that prize money. Things end tragically, or triumphantly? I can't tell from this album alone. Such good beats for sure though.
